About

This workshop, led by Sue Shields will explore a wide range of point media to investigate ways to translate into drawing the intricacy and flow of a particular linen garment. Through placing and composition, your drawing can be developed to set up an intriguing narrative, possibly peaceful or maybe very dramatic!

Sue has worked as an Illustrator and printmaker, producing a series of poster poems for the Welsh Arts Council, and winning a W H Smith award for illustration. She has taught drawing at Cardiff, Newport and Bristol art colleges.

This workshop is also taking place as part of the annual Ards and North Down Creative Peninsula event and is led by one of the contributing maker practitioners to the “Linen Futures 2018” exhibition at Art in the Loft, Portaferry (3rd – 26th August).

Materials: A3 drawing boards, papers, charcoal, fixative, a range of pencils, chalks, pastels and the garments will be provided. Do bring any other point media you would like to work with. Suitable age 18+. Bookings can be made by phone or email. Up to 10 participants. Tea and Coffee will be provided. Please bring lunch.
