We are just a few days away from the premiere in Lisburn of The Linen Opera ‘Waking Beauty’. There are still tickets available, but we strongly urge booking soon as demand is building in the run up this week. Tickets at https://www.islandartscentre.com/…/the-linen-opera-waking-b…
The opera is based on the 17th century story of Sleeping Beauty in a post-apocalyptic future, revealing what happens to the heroine Talia in a flax censored world;- and the dangers of what might happen if a government falls asleep for 100 years.
This is a preliminary work for a larger production to be staged in 2020 and has been commissioned by R-Space Gallery as part of the Linen Biennale Northern Ireland. Supported by Arts Council NI & Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, R-Space Gallery is delighted to acknowledge the in-kind support of NI Opera.
Performed by NI Opera Studio singers: Dawn Burns, Conor Breen and Rebecca Murphy
Plus Chanson D’Armour/French Song Recital with Eileen Coyle (Soprano) and Frasier Hickland (Piano)
