About
Led by Elspeth Thomas, a member of MaP (Makers and Practitioners) in Wales, a designer/maker specialising in digital embroidery and fabric manipulation.
In the spirit of recycling, students will learn the 17th century technique of Italian quilting, to create a simple yet effective hand sewn design. The rescuing and upcycling of vintage linen, using hand sewn decoration, may provide a contemporary twist to producing a panel that can be incorporated into a bag or cushion.
Students are advised to bring a basic sewing kit This workshop is also taking place as part of the annual Ards and North Down Creative Peninsula event and is led by one of the contributing maker practitioners to the Linen Futures 2018 exhibition at Art in the Loft, Portaferry (3rd – 26th August).
Maximum 8 per workshop, suitable for age 18+. Please book via email.
