About
Emma explores the journeys we take through space. Using found and recycled objects she reanimates them by creating mixed media embroideries that invite the viewer to imagine the journey our material possessions take once we’ve thrown them away.
Hand stitched in silk on Irish Linen produced in Northern Ireland at Flax Mill Textiles, Dungiven. These embroideries are created using merino fibre and recycled elements including; acrylic, yarn, velvet, beads, metal, glass, paper, circuit boards & watch movements.
Emma’s insect-like creations are sparkling, climbing over maps and images of the globe. Are the creatures spinning webs on the fabrics we have spun? Is it about creativity, or perhaps about spending time to return broken and discarded things to “life”? I liked the show a lot.
