Mandy Nash, vice chair of the International Feltmakers Association, textile and jewellery designer maker will lead this workshop for beginners and experienced feltmakers alike.
Using wet felting techniques, students will make a simple bag, with an integral handle. You will learn how to lay down wool fleece using a resist to create three dimensional forms.
By adding flax and alpaca, a textured surface can be achieved. Materials will be provided and included in the price of the workshop.
Students will need to bring a couple of old towels, a bowl, bubble wrap, scissors, needles and thread.
This workshop is also taking place as part of the annual Ards and North Down Creative Peninsula event and is led by one of the contributing maker practitioners to the, Linen Futures 2018, exhibition at Art in the Loft, Portaferry (3rd – 26th August).
Suitable for age 18+. Students will need to bring a packed lunch. Maximum 8 per workshop.
